    Gila National Forest               Trail Notes

RailRoad Canyon #96

HIking through the rabbitbush into the wide canyon.

A seriously deep arroyo. Thank goodness it's dry season!

Parry's Agave - those tooth tips are very sharp!

Chola cactus

Is that Twin Sisters to the west?

Western Bluebird

There snow on them thar hills!

Purgatory Chasm #779

There's that blue, blue New Mexico sky! Love it!

A little lizard napping on a sunny rock.

Beautiful light in the canyon on this day.

Continental Divide CDNST West from Sapillo Campground

Hard to capture the canyons surrounding you on this trail. You just need to be there!

Parry's agave. Agaves have been a source of human food and beverage for at least 9,000 years.

Parrys Agave grows slowly and once it blooms on a 10ft stalk, it dies off.

Prickly Pear cactus does fine up here too.

First sighting of spring in March!

Continental Divide CDNST East from Sapillo Campground

Towering Ponderosa Pines

Hoodoos!

Water!

Still snow in the forest.
